Swimathon 2014

Cornwall Pools is extremely proud of being a successful Cornish company and are passionate about Cornish causes.  With this in mind, we are delighted to announce the launch of our first annual swimathon, where teams will take turns to swim a Marathon over the weekend of the 26th and 27th July.

As their sole distributer in Cornwall, we will have an Endless Pool in our Indian Queens showroom and will be using this for the swimathon.  Endless Pools are a range of free standing swimming pools and swimspas which allow you to swim in a limited space, by swimming in place, much like a treadmill allows with running.  Alistair Brownlee had one installed at his house, to recover from injury in the lead up to his Gold medal at the London Olympics.

Teams of up to five people will swim over the weekend and we will set the swimming pools ‘Fastlane’ system, which creates a strong, smooth current to swim against, to a specific speed.  Once the final team member exits the Endless Pool at 16.55 on Sunday the 27th July, the swimmers will have combined to swim a Marathon.

Each team has a target for donations, which, if met, will mean the teams alone will raise £10,000 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance.  Our hope is that they will surpass this through the generosity of sponsorship from the Cornish public, and through donations made by supporters on the day.

We are now accepting applications to register a team to complete a block, and ask those that are interested to give us a call on 01726 860866.

We would love for spectators to come along and support the teams taking part over the weekend of the 26th and 27th July, and hope that this will be an exciting and fun event that raises money for a charity that is dear to the hearts of many of us in Cornwall.

At times it does feel like Cornwall is overlooked when it comes to public funding, so we would love to raise a significant amount of money for a hugely important Cornish charity, and with your help I believe that can be achieved.
